Meet Walter Stauss

Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make. You need someone who knows the territory: not just the listings, but the neighborhoods, the details, and the things that only reveal themselves over time. You need someone who knows the process, from the contract details to the connections with other players: other agents, inspectors, lenders, title pros.

You need someone who understands your finances and your goals and does everything possible to get you the right outcome. I’ve been that person for clients across Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Santa Clara Counties since 1991. And I’ve known this market since 1978.

I work with buyers and sellers at every stage: first-timers, long-time owners, investors, and people relocating from the Bay Area. The situation is always different. The job is always the same: get you the right outcome for your specific circumstances, not the easiest path to a closed transaction.

“We chose to work with Walter because we appreciated his professional yet approachable personality. He was upfront, clear, and he offered professional opinions while listening to our requests.”

Walter’s Philosophy

A few things worth knowing

Raised by an architect

My mother was an architect. Nearly every weekend, our family looked at houses. We were not buying. That’s just what we did. I’ve been reading a house since before I could read a contract.

And a Realtor

My father was a Realtor who worked commercial real estate in the Santa Clara Valley before anyone called it Silicon Valley. I grew up around deals, market cycles, and what land is actually worth. That perspective informs how I think about every transaction.

The financial piece

A house is a major piece of most people’s financial plan. I’ve taken accounting courses and financial planning courses. Real coursework, not the CE credits NAR requires. I’m not a CPA, attorney, or certified financial planner. But I understand balance sheets, equity positions, and how a transaction fits your bigger picture.
